Product Description -

New album by Norwegian band Minor Majority, the second created during the pandemic.

 

Songwriter Pal Angelskar says: "When we recorded “The Universe Would Have to Adjust” in 2020, there were a couple of songs that didn't fit in. We therefore decided to save them for a later release. When the pandemic made it difficult to tour as much as we wanted, we went back to the studio to see if we could do something with these songs. What began as kind of a repair job turned into a new creative process and now, we are ready with a new album, just ten months after the previous one. Interestingly, none of the old songs that were supposed to form the basis for a new record made it this time, either. Maybe they just weren't good enough, maybe it's just more interesting to work on new things than trying to finish something you've once put aside?"

 

“Most of these songs were made and arranged while society was partially shut down. Most of the touring we have been able to do has thus been in duo or trio format and some of the songs are made with that in mind – that they should work on small stages in intimate settings. It can certainly be heard. Several of the songs ("Kiss Off", "Nosedive", "Hopeful" and "Concerning David Palmer") are also instrumented and arranged differently than we normally would do with a full band."

 

Pal Angelskar has written seven of the ten songs on "Kiss Off", guitarist Roar Nilsen wrote two (Kiss Off, Other People's Lives) and pianist Harald Sommerstad has written one (Brilliant Mistake). The lyrics are mainly written by Angelskar. Sjur Lyseid (The Little Hands of Asphalt) co-wrote the lyrics for “Nosedive”, Hopeful”, The Best of Us” and To Let You win. Jacob Krogvold (Thulsa Doom) cowrote the lyrics for “Hold On” and “Meat & Potatoes Metal”. String and woodwind-arrangements is written by Roar Nilsen.
