Product Description -
Torkel Knutsson alias Deep Torkel (Stoodes, Suzie Beats Them All etc.) is a multi-artist with his roots in punk. For several years he wrote and directed the Burnt out Punks fire circus. As director and scriptwriter, he created the movie Naken (Naked) and is now active as producer, director and scriptwriter in Hollywood. The seed of I LOVE DEAD PEOPLE, one of Sweden's most ambitious and craziest record projects, was already sown in the 1980s when Torkel noticed a link between Stooges Funhouse and Miles Davis Bitches Brew and decided to try to capture it on record. A few decades later, he finally realized his project and hired the legendary Atlantis studio with a solid group of friends and musicians, including Ake Eriksson (Wasa Express, Gudibrallan, etc.), Mats "Magic" Gunnarsson (Diamond Dogs, Thirteen Moons, etc.), Michael Thimren (Johnny Thunders Band, Bitch Boys, etc.), Per Isaksson and Fredrik Jonasson (both Bizex-B etc.), Stefan Bjork (Wilmer-X etc.) and Christian Falk (Imperium, etc.). When the recording sessions were finished, Mats "Magic" Gunnarsson was found drowned and when Christian Falk passed away soon after, Torkel had difficulty approaching the recorded material. Not until he decided to call it I LOVE DEAD PEOPLE as his way of honoring his dead friends, could he finally finish the album. I LOVE DEAD PEOPLE is improvisation without sounding improvised. Hardly anyone in the band had played together before and no one had heard either riff or ideas before entering the studio.  The result is a hybrid of heavy and dirty psychedelic rock that sometimes resembles ALICE COOPER, IGGY POP, LED ZEPPELIN or Deep Purple, while the Next second sounding like a road roller of monotonous krautrock in the style of Faust.  Other times, it may sound like Southern rock, but almost going unnoticed it transforms into something similar to SWANS. All references aside, it doesn’t sound like anything previously released on record. Deep Torkel's vocals, along with the choirs, create a sparkling unity of sounds and the final result is something completely original. I LOVE DEAD PEOPLE is released in an exclusive 500-copy issue. The packaging for this release is probably unparalleled: The handheld bags contain two colored double vinyls in gatefold covers with printed inner sleeves, CD versions of the albums, a DVD documentary, a booklet / text folder, several stickers in different sizes and a digital download card.
